Press Release

Gambro at the 49th ERA-EDTA Congress May 24-27, 2012 in Paris - France

May 24, 2012 09:23 BST

ERA-EDTA is one of the most important congresses within the field of clinical nephrology, dialysis, renal transplantation and related subjects.
During May 24 – 27 visitors will be able to see the latest innovations within extracorporeal therapies in Gambro’s booth.

This year’s highlights from Gambro include;
IQD - Because every patient is different... Because every session is different...
Patient needs differ from individual to individual, therefore Gambro developed Individualized Quality-assured Dialysis (IQD) to help care providers deliver the best care to every single patient, in every single session.

SelectBag® Citrate  - A novel dialysis fluid containing citrate for patient well-being
Ensuring quality of life for hemodialysis patients is one of the goals of the new SelectBag® Citrate concentrate from Gambro —the novel citrate-containing, acetate-free dialysis fluid for regular hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration treatment. Citrate is a well-known antioxidant and anticoagulant and along with our own Individualized Quality-assured Dialysis (IQD) approach, the SelectBag Citrate concentrate aims to reduce stress during treatment and improve dialysis efficiency. Citrate is a natural metabolite providing both energy and buffering capacity to patients.

Diascan - The straightforward path to quality assurance
Two major targets in dialysis are the fluid removal to dry weight, and the removal of uremic toxins. The Diascan monitoring system can be a great help in achieving this last goal.

HemoControl™ - The easy route to the optimal outcome for each patient
Hemocontrol™ is a biofeedback system for individualized, physiological sodium-water management. Throughout each session, you can ensure the optimal water removal at the same time as the hydration status is normalized. Each patient will benefit from event-free sessions and better long-term outcomes.

Experience the best water
Every year, millions of treatments are carried out using water produced by our systems. With over thirty years’ experience providing high-quality, energy-efficient and water-saving solutions, Gambro leads the way in water purification for dialysis. We remain committed to providing you with the best water for the best treatment.

Lunch symposium with Dr.Ingrid Ledebo - “Towards more physiological dialysis”.  May 25 (Time: 13.15–15.15 Room: Concord)
The Dialysis Opinion Symposia have been featured in the ERA-EDTA Congress since the mid 1990’s. This year Dr. Ingrid Ledebo is organizing a lunch symposium that will present and discuss how in-center dialysis inEurope today is performed with high-flux, biocompatible membranes and ultrapure, bicarbonate-containing dialysis fluid. It also  includes a considerable amount of convection, as recommended by Gambro’s Best Practice Guidelines. This has made dialysis considerably more physiological. But, however obvious any change may appear today, pro-con debates and controversies over the issue have typically dominated the scientific arena for many years.
So what brought about these changes? How far on the road towards physiological dialysis have we come? What will be the next major change? These and other issues will be presented and discussed by leading nephrology professionals in the lunch symposium.

Let us share our experience and knowledge with you and discuss further.
