Gambro at the 41st EDTNA/ERCA Congress September 15-18, 2012 in Strasbourg, France

Sep 14, 2012 12:13 BST

This year’s conference theme is ‘Global Advances in Renal Care: Economic and Quality Impact on Disease Management’ and the main focus will promote the quality of renal care acrossEuropethrough education, research and the implementation of quality standards. Visitors will be able to visit Gambro’s exciting renal exhibition covering the most up to date technology and research within extracorporeal therapies.

The highlights from Gambro include;

IQD - Because every patient is different... Because every session is different...
Patient needs differ from individual to individual, therefore Gambro developed Individualized Quality-assured Dialysis (IQD) to help care providers deliver the best care to every single patient, in every single session.

SelectBag® Citrate  - A novel dialysis fluid containing citrate for patient well-being
Ensuring quality of life for hemodialysis patients is one of the goals of the new SelectBag® Citrate concentrate from Gambro —the novel citrate-containing, acetate-free dialysis fluid for regular hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration treatment. Citrate is a well-known antioxidant and anticoagulant and along with our own Individualized Quality-assured Dialysis (IQD) approach, the SelectBag Citrate concentrate aims to reduce stress during treatment and improve dialysis efficiency.

HemoControl™ - The easy route to the optimal outcome for each patient
Hemocontrol™ is a biofeedback system for individualized, physiological sodium-water management. Throughout each session, you can ensure the optimal water removal at the same time as the hydration status is normalized. Each patient will benefit from event-free sessions and better long-term outcomes.

Diascan - The straightforward path to quality assurance
Two major targets in dialysis are the fluid removal to dry weight, and the removal of uremic toxins. The Diascan monitoring system can be a great help in achieving this last goal.

ParkLine- Park your blood tubes in line
The ParkLine clip is uniquely created to help medical staff members secure blood tubes to the patient’s clothing during a dialysis treatment.

Gambro Corporate Education Session: IQD – (Individualised Quality-assured Dialysis) A guide to implementing renal best practice in haemodialysis
Sep 16 (11.00-12:30, Erasme Hall)
During the session Gambro will explore the opportunities to assess and provide individualized care and how to match the clinical advances in hemodialysis to the unique needs of renal patients. All guest speakers will demonstrate the benefits of this approach in the current EDTNA/ERCA & Gambro joint project on selected chapters covering the most important topics from daily clinical practice.

Scientific Program:
Do all dialysis patients suffer from the same disease and should they receive the same prescription? Angela Henson, Australia– Clinical Nurse
Will a technical algorithmic approach to guidelines be useful and acceptable to mostly non-technical dialysis staff?
Frantisek Lopot, Czech Republic– Clinical Engineer
Should renal experts consult patients when they create guidelines?
Darren Cawley, Ireland– Renal Patient
The last part will be supported by IQD Project Group members in leading the discussion and providing expert opinion and guidance. Chair: Frantisek Lopot,Czech Republic
